As movies like Nosferatu (1922) and Twilight (2008) will attest to, legends of vampires have captured peoples imaginations for generations. For centuries there have been mysterious tales of the un-dead rising to consume the living by draining the blood of their victims. While there have been myths and speculation of vampires, a team of archaeologists and forensic scientists have uncovered possible evidence of the existence of the vampire legend. On the Greek island of Lesbos, archaeologist Hector Williams discovered two unusual burials. The two bodies were pinned inside their coffins with long metal stakes piercing the neck, pelvis and ankle, essentially pinning them down. These two unique burials give evidence to deviant burials that might give substance to vampire legends in these areas. Williams believes that the small islet of Pamphila just a few kilometers off the coast could be a mass-burial site for Vampires.
